Spread Pricing is Stealing $70 Million* of our Tax Dollars from Maryland Medicaid Annually
That is not a rounding error or just "Administrative Cost” - the State of Maryland Insurance administrators claim this is theft from the MD taxpayer.
Even a fraction of this $70 million could save many independents pharmacies from closing, save jobs being lost from Maryland, save taxpayer dollars being sent out of state.
IPMD is an organization of local independent pharmacists in Maryland. Our mission is to keep Maryland healthy by supporting the causes of independent pharmacies, by stopping anti-competitive business practices and saving taxpayer dollars being diverted by the unregulated middlemen of pharmacy aka PBM’s (Pharmacy Benefit Managers).
Independent Pharmacists are a vital part of the healthcare team and our communities. The field of pharmacy cannot be commoditized by separating the dispensing act from the counseling/personal touch aspect. This frequently happens at typical understaffed (“operationally efficient”) large corporate chain stores. Conversely, an independent pharmacy typically has twice the labor per hour of these “corporate stores” giving an independent pharmacist time to talk with and counsel their patients. That personal touch along with easier accessibility of most local independent pharmacies can have a significant positive impact on many patients' lives.
Take a stand against the abuses of local small business pharmacies and taxpayer dollars! Join IPMD today!
